On a more positive note...
Progress reports came out today and my kids did great!! Boys have all A's and one B each. Stephanie has all A's.
Blake is in the top reading group at school and his reading teacher said that many of the kids in her class will end up with B's. However, they are reading way above the other kids in 1st grade. They are already doing "tenses" in verbs and more intense grammar skills. They came into 1st grade above benchmark. So...there are 5 textbooks for 1st grade and after one week of school the Principal evaluated them and decided that they would skip them past the third book. They originally started this advanced class at the second book but they were just flying through it!! The other classes are starting at the first book. By January or February Blake's class will have finished all of the books and most of the 1st grade will not even get to the last two or three books by the end of the year. They will then be doing an enrichment series and more computerized programs. His reading teacher said that this will be a challenge and although he may end up with a "B" (this is where Blakes "B" is) he will be so far ahead of the other first graders who have A's. I am so excited and so proud. This will be a tremendous advantage. I do on some level wish they could get "A's" for their more advanced work but such is life. He may miss some all "A's" field trips but then again maybe not. He is only one point from an A.
Stephanie did well in reading and now Blake is. Although Jay makes A's and B's he struggles with reading on about a one year deficiency. This effects classes such as Science and Social Studies. He has to work sooooo much harder for his grades but he has great goals for himself this year. I hope this will be the year his reading gets up to par and school becomes easier for him. We are working very hard at it! He wants to make all A's so badly but we have discussed just doing his best and trying to do better at all times!! He is very happy with his grades so far and so am I. His attitude is wonderful through all of this hard work.
I am so proud of this excellent start to this school year! I am agin reminded of last years rocky start and how life is so good now!!!! Wooo hoooo!!!!!!
