Do you believe in angels??
Wow...we had awesome testimony in church this morning. Our church collected TONS of food, gas and supplies (obtaining those supplies was yet another God inspired story) to take to Mississippi and Louisiana. They made two trips over already with several truck and trailer loads.
Anyway...do you ever wonder about the phrase "in everything there is a purpose"??? Well, the trailer had a flat tire on the way over. Many might find discouragement in this kind of diversion when trying to do God's work. However, an angel on earth, literally appeared and helped. Apparently there are special tools needed when working on tires of a trailer and those tools were not available to my church family. A man (angel) appeared with exactly the right tools and assistance needed. He was then GONE in a flash, not to be seen again. That is amazing in and of itself. However, while on the side of I10, our pastors wife had family members trying to get somewhere for help. They are from the area that was hit hard. As he was driving, he looked over and saw his Aunt Martha "stranded" on the side of the interstate. There was the help he was praying for right before his eyes. Now tell me....do you believe in angels.....do you believe that God is always there watching over us. Amazing!
There is another little side to this story too aboug God meeting needs. As many of you know we have a HUGE gas shortage in our area. As the church members loaded up the trucks and trailers they wondered how God was going to provide gas for them to make it to Louisiana, Mississippi and back. One of the members went into town just as gas was available and there were NO lines. They did not even have to only receive the minimum amount of gas because they were sending it to victims. They loaded up containers after containers (the driver of this vehicle said he was driving a BOMB ha ha) to take to that hard hit area. They were allowed to get what they needed to get there and back and provide gas for the victims.
A really funny story is that its a few hours round trip to Louisiana with the traffic and slow speed (due to trailers etc). Well, bathroom facilities were not readily available due to no electricity, etc. The ladies (and men) got pretty desperate as they looked and looked for an available potty. Finally, after having no luck at stores, they stopped in Gautier at a church. The church was open and had alot of damage from flooding. They said it looked like about 2 feet of water was in the church. However, even though no one was present and they had damage THEY HAD ELECTRICITY and PLUMBING! God provides for every need we have. That little church with all of its damage also contributed to this ministry of helping victims. What a testimony these people have that were able to go and reach out to others. What a testimony a little church in Gautier, Ms. has for providing services to those delivering assistance. Awesome to sit back and see God's blessings through the tragedy.
Remember to look for the blessings in your life everyday. The media will not show them to you. Find the stories. There is good in humanity and somebody out there will share that with you. Most of all, see God at work through these ministries. See God at work through his people. There are already people coming to know Christ because of these ministries. They will experience first hand his grace and mercy. I honestly do not know how people survive day to day without the peace, joy and comfort in all of life's troubles that only comes from God.
