Cross Country and Soccer
Stephanie had her first Cross Country meet today and did very well. She came in 2nd place for the school. Overall winners and placement, I am not quite sure yet as there were several different divisions running at the same time and they only compete against the 1A schools. They will give the results at school tomorrow. Each school has to be tallied according to their first five across the finish line. The score for each school is then determined and winners announced. She was so nervous and I had no words of encouragement since I have never even attended a track or cross country meet before. The race was a little over 2 miles long. It appeared to me to be closer to 3 miles. She ran the whole race and kept her pace, never walked and did very well. She came in behind an 8th grader who is extremely athletic. I am so proud of her. She also got to race against one of her friends who transferred to another school. It was fun to see Aubrie and her Mom. The girls ran together much of the race, until Steph pulled ahead of her :-) I dont think she will be nearly as nervous at the next meet now that she has a better idea of what to expect.
We left the meet as soon as the girls race was over and headed straight to the soccer field. Practice went well for Stephanie and Jay both. Stephanie is thrilled that her team even made. Games start next week but they did not get a team together until this week. It is hard to form a city league team at this age group due to school sport conflicts. Her cross country meets should have minimum interference so we lucked out. Many of the girls were not as lucky because the volleyball team plays/practices at the same time. So, it took awhile to get enough kids to make a team. All systems are go now though and she is a happy camper.
We are just finishing homework and baths around here and everyone is just plumb tuckered out! Somehow they have forgotten these busy days?? How??? I certainly havent ha ha!
Is tomorrow only Wednesday??? Working a full week this week may just get the best of me!! Just kidding!
